A recent comprehensive European study which followed 25,000 people in 52 countries, and took a decade to complete concluded that stress is the number one cause of cardiovascular disease or a heat attack. Specifically the study found that psychosocial stress such as stress at work and at home, financial stress, and major life events in the past year were extremely significant in predicting heart attacks. Heart attack is the number one killer in the world today.
